Andis 2010 Painted Fields Blend

A Cab, Syrah and PS blend. Let’s call it the “Go Big” blend. Despite its size, it floats and carries itself like a Bordeaux blend. I don’t think that was an accident. Herbs, cherry and licorice. Big fruit! It’s big on the palate so bring a knife and fork. The tannins are ample but smooth. Structure was a must to keep these rascals in harmony. Long spice filled finish is rewarding.

Production Notes: “Each season we harvest a few extra tons from some of our favorite fields and pull in some grapes from vineyards we think might be promising with the intent of finding just the right mix for Painted Fields. As we set worthy lots aside, we begin experimenting with various blends until we find just the right mix for that vintage. By not limiting ourselves to a specific varietal or predetermined blend, we allow tremendous latitude to make a simply delicious red wine.” • 785 cases
