Klinker Brick 2011 Farrah Syrah

The owners of Klinker Brick, Steve and Lori Felten, named this little gem after their daughter Farrah who you may just bump into in their tasting room.  She joined the winery in 2009 and manages the tasting room and wine club.

This syrah lets loose lots of dark fruit that sing well together.  Once on the palate, it gets sassy and brings pepper which is a definite “Zoom!”  Then it all comes together and lines up in a single file line and exits in a nice orderly finish.  I’m not usually a big syrah fan but that was nice.  I enjoyed it.

By the way, I met Farrah when I visited Klinker Brick and she is a great face to represent this winery.  Welcoming, friendly, knowledgable and willing to take the time to chat even when her appointment book is probably overloaded.  Well done Farrahs. Well done.

Winemaker’s Notes: “With aromas of black currant, raspberry, tobacco, and white pepper, this full-bodied wine shows flavors of blackberry, dark chocolate and spicy oak on the palate.  Beautifully balanced with integrated tannins and a silky texture, this supple wine has a long, lingering finish.  Pair with grilled meats, barbecued ribs and spicy sausage. “
