Robert Sinskey 2006 Cabernet Franc

I love my trips to Napa.  I always get the meet the most wonderful wines.  My “secret somm” brought this one to play with.

The most ridiculously wonderful oak wafts from the bottle.  A 2006 but still kicking raspberries to the front of your nose.  Like a warm summer after noon creek side.  Watch out!  It’s slippery.  Right to the rear palate and the acidity plays that tingle game on the back of your throat. The medium tannins signal the secondary characteristics to come calling.  Welcome, chalky earth flavors with a bit of tea.  It’s a long journey that I enjoyed until the bottle was done.  More please!

Winemaker Notes: “RSV’s organic and Biodynamic Vandal Vineyard gives Cabernet Franc color that holds light like a deep-hued ruby. Tempting aromas of a bramble thicket, heavy with ripe berries on a hot summer afternoon, join spicy notes of licorice and vanilla in begging a sip. A taste brings black and red berries spiked with spices and sweet herbs. Supple tannins and a refreshing cut of acidity set the mind to work on complimentary victuals. RSV lamb, anyone?
