Viaggio Winery
Viaggio is a fairly new winery just North of Lodi near Sacramento California. The new owners, Larry and Teri Lawrence, are new to the wine world but have some great ideas about how to show wine enthusiasts a great experience. Viaggio charges a $5 tasting fee which is refunded with purchase. They open their doors to the general public Fridays through Sundays from 11:00a – 5:00pm, with a few extra hours to enjoy on Friday evenings until 8p.
Viaggio’s “wine chops” have yet to be truly tested because they are such a young winery. Not only are their vines young, but Terri Lawrence is a newcomer to the crazy world of wine. One thing is for sure, this couple is serious about showing folks a great time. They are not about attitude or pomp and circumstance. They simply want to share a great experience on their property. In fact, when you stop by you will likely be greeted by Larry and Terri will probably pour your flight. I always appreciate when the person who put their sweat equity into the wine is the person pouring and sharing. That is a recipe for a good wine experience.
If you are looking to taste in Lodi, especially if you are tasting with a large group, you should plan on stopping by Viaggio. In the summer, they have live music on their fantastic patio with plenty of room to wander and relax under an umbrella. There is a great fireplace out there that I bet would be magical on a cool evening with a band playing. If you are planning a day, I would put Viaggio as my second stop and bring a lunch. Viaggio is a great place to enjoy a bottle in a fantastic setting.

How to get there:
Viaggio is in the town of Acampo which is a small town just North of Lodi. To get there, travel South from Sacramento on I-5 and exit Peltier Road. Head East about 3 miles and look for the signs just beyond Davis road.
