VML – Russian River Winery • Healdsburg, CA

VML Winery is located just west of the small Sonoma town of Healdsburg.  Healdsburg is approximately 60 miles north of San Francisco across the Golden Gate Bridge. The tasting room is open daily from 11am – 5pm. VML is a label of Truett Hurst named after their winemaker Virginia Marie Lambrixe.  This is an absolute don’t miss inert folks!  Good wine and great property.  Great for large groups, picnics, sunny day, rainy day.. its just a great place to visit.

VML is a true Sonoma winery and Pinot Noir holds the reins.  The wine IQ at VML is very high.  The juice that reaches your palate was given many hours of thought to its development.  The folks pouring in the tasting room also know wine and are not afraid to share that knowledge and passion.  A refreshing irony however is that despite this high wine IQ, I was not greeted by pomposity or attitude.  In fact, it was quite the opposite.  I was greeted by a welcoming and casual style that is ideal for those new to wine tasting and those who want a truly memorable experience.   Two important pillars to wine tasting.  Good folks and good wine.  If you drop by, say, “Hi!” to John and Rachael for me.  They were fantastic and both have some great information about the specifics of wine as it relates to Sonoma.

A huge cherry on top to this winery is the grounds.  They are manicured to both be beautiful and comfortable.  If its a rainy day, you could sit inside and taste in front of a fire.  If its a warm spring day, you could have lunch under a tree near multiple water features will overlooking the vineyard.   If you are planning a trip to the Russian River Valley, VML is not a place you want miss.
