2010 Petite Sirah Estate Russian River Valley
Simple dark fruit notes like blackberry and blueberry but nothing dominant that jumps out at you. Bold on the palate. Tannin structure is vibrant and wants to play. Definitely not a timid PS. Make sure she has plenty of air and has time to stretch the old legs. I felt like I was swirling forever to get her to reveal her secrets. I got cocoa later in our meeting. Didn’t see it coming. I thing she was being coy. I enjoyed it. Didn’t find this to be a complex wine. Bold is the adjective that keeps coming to mind.

Winemaker Notes: “On the nose, robust blackberry and dark chocolate are the predominant aromatics with a touch of anise and white pepper. The fruity aromas follow on the tongue, commingled with full-bodied black cherry, blueberry, hints of dark toasted hazelnuts and sweet vanilla. The well-managed, even tannins produce a long, silky finish with luscious black fruits to the end. Pair this rich wine with grilled or roasted lamb chops, braised meats, dark chocolate desserts, or hearty, aged cheeses such as Asiago, Parmesan Reggiano or Gouda. ”
