Acheson

"Acheson Wine Company began as many wineries do with two old wine industry friends starting their own project. Acheson Cabernet was born with the 2013 vintage which was sold to restaurants and fine wine shops in California, New York, London, Paris, and Singapore. But the revelation came when realizing the amount of waste in the wine industry. Looking at the amount of bottles, labels, corks, capsules and cardboard boxes that were being put into their own recycling bins gave them pause. A bit of research turned up a horrible statistic. “A glass bottle in a landfill takes One Million Years to break down”"

“Right in Sacramento’s Midtown district, Acheson is a new age wine concept. It’s an urban winery but their bottles are not for sale… they are for “lease.” You lease this bottle and then you pay them to fill it with wine. You return with an empty bottle, they swap it out for a clean bottle and you fill it with another wine of your choice. Acheson also has a local, walkin crowd that lives in the surrounding flats the visit regularly for a glass before their next meeting or heading home. Fresh concept.”
