MGVs

"Katsunuma town, where MGVs Winery is located, has long been a grape-growing region and is situated in a fruit-growing area rich in nature. We specialize in Koshu, a grape variety indigenous to this region, and Muscat Bailey A, which is widely grown in Yamanashi Prefecture, and we intend to preserve this land for future generations and contribute to the development of the region through our winemaking business by taking advantage of the characteristics of the vineyards in this region and integrating grape growing and wine sales to create a local circular economy."

“This was my first time wine tasting in Japan so I had no expectations. MGVs is a dope tasting concept with many obvious western concepts in their tasting room. The tasting room is a blend between industrial and farm/barn vibe but set into a modern aesthetic. It’s interesting but it works well. Winemaking style is very precise and thoughtful. They have created a labelling system to explain each wine using a type of code. For example, a “K221″ is the Koshu grape, short maceration, saignee/rosé, all stainless fermentation. It’s a very cool concept! Definitely put this on the list if you are heading out there for a Japanese wine tasting adventure.”
