Three Wine Co 2011 Old Vines Field Blend

2011.3wine.fieldblendThree Wine Co. 2011 Old Vines Field Blend

A big blend with some big grapes. (38% Carignane, 21% Petite Sirah, 19% Mataro,17% Zinfandel, and 5% Alicante Bouschet) Raspberries and blueberries control the nose. It’s a wild blend. I found the Carignane a bit too fierce to be ignored. It’s the big dog in the lineup. The mouth is round, almost chewy. Smooth tannins ride inexhaustibly through finish. They are polite though will eventually bid you a kind adieu. • 3006 Cases

Winemaker Notes: “The grapes developed slowly and sugar development appeared to lag while the acidity remained vibrant. Ripeness was pushed to higher levels until the perfect balance was achieved resulting in luscious aromatics of blackberries, raspberries, violets and sweet herbs. The taste is rich, dense and chewy, packed with crushed black and red fruits, with a mouthfeel that is extravagantly lush and opulent. – See more at: http://www.threewinecompany.com/field-blend.html#sthash.IeVJia4O.dpuf”
