Markham 2008 Philanthropist Cabernet Sauvignon
Can’t describe the aromas. They are mysterious. Just like the wine is described. Just as you think you have an aroma pinned down, it eludes you. I’m pretty sure I got blackberries, subtle cherry and a hint of mint and chocolate. Bold tannin structure is ironically smooth for its age with a comfortable finish. This will get better over time. Buy this one and old it for a rainy day in front of the fire.

Winemaker Notes: “Think of this vintage of ‘Phil’ as that dark, dangerous stranger. There is a of intrigue in his demeanor with aromas that touch on chocolate, smoke, licorice and hints of mint or is that whiskey?Well-dressed in firm tannins, the structure of this stranger is tight and powerful, not looking to relax anytime soon. That stand off approach will soon enough become a treasured, reliable old friend bringing easy charm and showing of blackberry jam, caramel nut brittle and toasty oak at each gathering. Trust that with patience, the rewards will be huge. A steak and a knife would be your best accompaniment!”
