Barsetti

"The owners of Barsetti Vineyards are Janis Barsetti Gray and Richard Gray. Janis' grandfather Gottardo Barsetti came to America from the southern part of Switzerland in 1903 and settled in Galt in 1912. In 1941, Janis' father and grandparents bought the property where the vineyard exists today."

“My stop here was totally by mistake, which I always brag is the best way to find wineries. I was looking for a tasting stop in Galt because I had never tasted in the area and Barsetti popped up in my search. I exclaimed, “Yea baby!” I thought this was a tasting room down the hill from a fantastic vineyard in the foothills named Barsotti. Obviously I don’t read so well 🤣… stupid dyslexia. Needless to say, it is not what I thought it was and figured that out about 3 minutes into my tasting. I was so confused. The beauty of these mistakes is I met Janis the owner. She fell in love with their 120 acre property with 3 varietals on vine which she sells all to Gallo. She then buys fruit from E2 winery and they help her make her wine. Janis would love to move the tasting room to the property eventually. Then Janis told me about her work with the Galt historical society while sharing lots of info about the assorted black and white photos around the tasting room. Always a surprise.”
