“There are few times in the last decade where I visit a new place and not look for the wine scene. Eugene is a college town and it sits halfway between Willamette’s huge wine scene and the smaller, more eclectic Southern Oregon wine scene. I figured Eugene would be a wine desert but I was wrong. Sitting in a former theatre in downtown Eugene is a winery that was born in the New Zealand wine world and now offers a taste of NZ wines next to some popular OR wines. The winemaking style is solid and the contrast between the two terroirs is cool. A pleasant surprise for sure.”
