“Hartford hit my radar years ago while doing press for ZAP (Zinfandel Advocates and Producers) in San Francisco. This is a huge 70+ table event that gets wild at times. I met someone from their brand who was strolling through the crowd with a bottle telling folks, “You have to taste our new ‘Zino-Noir.” I never back down from a challenge or an interesting wine notion. So he goes on to say they are a Pinot house that makes their Zin like they make their Pinot. He was right! It was like a plum-vibed Pinot. Higher acids, lower alcohol, neutral oak concept. It was delicious. Here’s where it gets Bagger Vance. I look forward to this whole “Zino-Noir” thing when I visit and nobody at Hartford knows what I’m talking about. I tasted multiple of their Zins which were great but traditionally made. So did I dream it? 🤣 If anyone from Hartford can reach out and help me figure this out, I’ll be waiting deep in the rough for my next shot.”
