Lumiere

“Lumiere was one of my first wine tasting experiences in Japan. Many things were the same but many were very different. Lumiere is a restaurant, a wine shop and a small tasting room. It’s all together. While they had a cool assortment of varietals, they were very different than the assortment you would find in the US. I am used to someone pouring and sharing information about wine being poured but here there is a vending system with a credit card. You pay by the ounce rather than the tasting. You get your card, they give you a glass and are free to explore at your leisure with a guide pamphlet. Lumiere is one of the “historic” kids on the block so I wanted to visit here first and it was a great experience. I’m still trying to wrap my head around them making wine from the Delaware grape. Haven’t seen one of those since I tasted in Upstate New York years ago. Always an adventure.”
