Berghold 2010 Foot Stomp Zinfandel

Cherry immediately jumps into your nose.  Love that its from the Cherry Road vineyard.  Look for some blackberry and hints of licorice.  Great nose adventure.  Don’t rush to get your lips on this one.  Spend some time swirling and enjoying. I found it a bit atypical for a Zin.  Refreshing with so many Zins in Lodi.  Bitter dark fruit and soft tannins hit the rear palate with some leather notes.  Not heavy.  Think “dancing pixies” type spices hand around for quite a while during the finish.  Don’t ask me where I got “dancing pixies” but it just seemed right.  Anybody try this and enjoyed those spices?

Winemaker Notes: “100% pure Zinfandel from our Cherry Road vineyard, aged 9 months in all American oak barrels. This medium bodied zin displays a nice balance between the oak, fruit and spice and is fondly known as liquid American berry pie!”
