Four Lanterns

“I tell this story all the time, appointment breaks down so be prepared to pivot. I was in hillside Paso on a weekday and flipped around to pull into Four Lanterns. It was desolate empty. It was beginning of harvest so I see this a lot. I walked, noisily around the tasting room to get someone’s attention… nothing. I peeked outside, they were having lunch. I hated to bother them and introduced myself. Steve, the owner, left his lunch and the others, to share about his brand Four Lanterns, his land stewardship and his winemaking style. You just learned a lot about this man. He had staff that could have taken time with me but Steve went the extra step to make me feel comfortable on his land. Ironically, he isn’t this gregarious creature that would speak to everyone in the room; quite contrary. He believes in taking care of the land, simple but high brow winemaking and opening his doors for people to enjoy his land. Simple but powerful. I see you and appreciate you Steve. You’re good people.”
