Martin Ray 2012 Russian River Chardonnay

Oh goodness! The nose is filled with delicious apple pie and citrus with hints of toasted nut wood. That’s lovely. Whimsical.

The nose maybe be fun but the palate is a bit more mature. I had to dig my nose back in the glass. “Did I smell that right?”

My entire mouth got a sharp, tart acidic snap. It immediately spread out and got silky from top to bottom. The acidic structure strummed softly. The tart green apple tones melted into the center of my tongue leaving it wet and full of sour. Of course that just makes you want to pick up the glass again. Vicious cycle.

Winemaker Notes: “Perfectly balanced aromas of baked apple, citrus, toast and floral notes delight the nose and continue as flavors in the juicy, round mouth. Pair this rich, refreshing Chardonnay with light fish dishes, a variety of salads and mild cheeses.”
