You had me at Howell Mountain. If you haven’t been up there, schedule a trip. It’s a pretty special place in Napa Valley, not to mention remarkably beautiful.

Pepper Bomb!!! The pepper and dark, ripe raspberries smell enticing. They absolutely frolic in your glass. Tight spices show up quickly and grab you in a hurry. Then you will realize that you are not being accosted, but being grabbed for a dance.  So playful! The tannins are round and fun. Almost whimsical. The spices travel and move across every inch of your palate. It’s a doozy of a finish. That was really good.

Like I said, you had me at Howell Mountain.

Tasting Notes: “D-cubed Cellars 2010 Black Sears Zinfandel jumps out of the glass with blackberries and pepper.  These are compounded with aromas of plums, sage and a hint of oak. This full bodied wine has flavors of berries, plum, white pepper with hints of herbs and toasty oak.  The richness and intensity lingers on the tongue through the long smooth berry finish.
