Soft cheddar in the nose. Mushrooms, yeast and intricate spices through the mid-palate. A hint of musk here and there. Silky on the tongue and not too heavy to drink alone.

Winemaker Notes: “Frank Evangelho’s vines come from the sandy soil of Oakley, in northeastern Contra Costa County, not far from the Sacramento River delta. The phylloxera scourge of the 19th century was never able to gain a toehold there, so it is one of the last places in California suitable for un-grafted grapevines. These old Mourvedre plants provide us with a rare look into this uncommon variety, and help us understand its colorful history in France, where it enjoys wide success in Bandol and other parts of the South.”
