Berghold 2010 Petite Sirah
Love the deep ruby red color in this glass! Looks like someone melted Dorothy’s slippers. It has a great sparkle! A rich black cherry nose with hints of leather and butter. I thought the nose was done but I must confess, I have a swirling problem. Sometimes I think I love smelling wine more than I like drinking it. This was an example where it paid off. After digging back in, a wonderful cedar appeared and it almost felt woodsy.
The rich tannins will take an elegant stroll across your tongue like an stroll on the Champs-Élysées. Not a couple on a romantic evening stroll but rather a wedding party after the rice but before the cake. It’s big and noticeable, well dressed and definitely having fun. Smooth long finish with a quick pop of spice that dissolves in slow motion.

Winemaker Notes: “This Petite Sirah has supple tannin structure with juicy ripe plum, black cherry along with hints of cedar and blueberry flavors. Aged primarily in American Oak barrels with a touch of French Oak blended prior to bottling. A great food wine, try pairing with grilled pork chops, dry-rub bbq ribs or steak with sauteed mushrooms.”
