DAOU 2011 Reserve Aux
The mixed berries smell yummy. This 61% Syrah and 39% Grenache blend smells big. Your tongue will feel it from the moment it hits your palate. The tannins are bold and unapologetic. As soon as you recover from the tannin turbulence, it gets rather still. In fact, it just sits there and keeps you company. This is an excellent cold day wine. As you snuggle, the finish will sit with you like a warm blanket.

Winemaker Notes: “Hues of blue and light red reveal the use of these two popular Rhone varietals. The nose is dominated by herbs de Provence and free-run strawberries. When tasted, crushed black peppercorns and blackberries show themselves in beautiful harmony. There is a surprisingly high level of natural acidity that these grapes don’t always have – a testament of a great terroir’s ability to reach ripeness. This creates a refreshing approach to the firm tannins and long finish. Complexity is added with the notes of leather and a hint of tar. Due to this wines proper structure, it can be enjoyed for years to come.”
