Decoy 2011 Pinot Noir

Subtle but rich cherry and strawberry are a bit stubborn.  I wish I could say it is tight but I decanted it to really check out its nuts and bolts.  After my first taste, I came back after a bit later to give it another shot and found a hint of mint.  It’s hiding and won’t come out until it gets to know you.  You will have to put your nose deep in the bell to find it.  Once on your palate, it has substantial earthiness and notes of tobacco.  Nice structure for a fairly large production bottle.  Fairly bold tannins and a somewhat acidic mid-palate to finish experience.

Winemaker Notes: “This enticing wine showcases lovely aromas of strawberry, sun-dried cherry and blueberry with hints of tobacco, earth and pennyroyal mint. The bright cherry notes continue on the palate, alongside flavors of cranberry, cola and Santa Rosa plum, while a streak of vibrant acidity contributes to this Pinot’s freshness, structure and delicious length.”
