Lucas & Lewellen 2008 Petit Verdot
Berries and herbs with a hint of tobacco and asparagus shoots. I love to see 100% PV’s on the list. Not common and has some distinctive aromas and characteristics that are worth celebrating. Big herbs and minerality on the palate with a dab of pepper. The tannins spread out slowly on the palate and the finish is slow while the spices linger.

Winemaker Notes: “Most commonly, this wine is part of the Bordeaux blend complementing Cabernets and Merlots. One of Bordeaux’s oldest and rarest varieties, this is grown at the crest of a high hill overlooking the Santa Ynez River Valley. This lovely, inky-dark red wine is full of violet scents mingled with black stone fruit flavors. It is a big hearted, big bodied wine for that special occasion when only a true rarity will do.”
