Spenker 2011 Zinfandel
The nose is all over the place. Fruits from every angle. Assorted berries is the best description for a round and diverse experience. The end of the draw offers a little high spice like a eucalyptus. Doesn’t start out big. Begins reserved and polite. Slightly bitter and full of acidic wobble. Peppery tannins in the middle of the mouth get broad in a hurry. Growing but still not big. Its a lateral experience. The tannins refuse to budge painting your tongue. Makes for a strong finish.

Winemaker Notes: “Blackberry fruit and ripe cherries along with transient black pepper are the notable flavors in this vintage. There is a feel of cinnamon spice in the mouth. Grapey and unassuming, Lodi soft tannins give it a pleasing mouth-coating texture.”
