Matrix 2011 Red Blend
What a blend! 50% Petite Sirah and 50% Zinfandel from their Bacigalupi label grown on their Russian River Valley vineyard. She’s is inky!
Big floral notes with a jumble of assorted berries. Slightly jammy with hints of fig and maybe sage. Look out for the sharp acid structure. It will smack your palate and then subside almost as fast as it appeared. The fade to black on the acid shock actually creates somewhat of a stage for the big fruit. Then the ride gets really comfortable and easy going. The tannin structure is very likable and fun.

Winemaker Notes: “Intriguing aromas of blueberry jam, cassis and fresh chopped clove warm the palate for flavors of boysenberry, blackberry and dark plum. The finish of black truffle, anise and dried currant pleasantly lingers on and on. This unique blend is so dark it is almost black. The lingering finish, supple tannins and vibrant acidity make this wine great for pairing. Favorites include sliced skirt steak followed by chocolate torte. Enjoy now or cellar for the next 5-10 years.”
