Smells of spicy berries but grounded with good old fashioned earth. The palate is full of depth. Maybe a fig or a sweet, toasted nut wood. The rear palate gets sharp almost out of nowhere. The acid bump is the ramp for the finish which seems to last forever. …Yup, its still going.  Alright already, I hear you. You are hear and ready to be enjoyed.  Unfortunately I just checked their website and they are all sold out of this vintage. Lucky their 2011 is now available!

Reail: $36

Winemaker Notes: “2011 was an interesting year because it was cooler than average and we didn’t harvest this block of Zinfandel from our Estate until the very end of October.  As a result, the grapes hung on the vines for a couple weeks longer than normal and developed some very nice flavor.  The wine produced is a beautifully bright, deep garnet.  It has a lovely aroma which is highlighted by spicy clove, red raspberry, black cherry, and rich cocoa with hints of rose pedal and black pepper. The aromas are accentuated on the palate by lush red fruit, creamy caramel, rich white chocolate and a lasting spicy finish.  The mouth feel is one that will not disappoint; it is soft and round yet full and rich, with a silky smooth texture and spicy tannins.
