Licorice and burnt, wet hickory fills your nose in this Zin and Sangio blend. It smells big. Hits your palate and spreads out quickly. Big rectangular tannins. They are laced with spices from left to right. The mouth is full of activity. The finish is long and well received.

I have to admit that I didn’t like the nose. Definitely not one of my favorite styles. However, I do enjoy a good surprise. Once on the palate, I literally had a disconnect. It was definitely a better drinker for me. Don’t just a book by its cover; Don’t judge a wine by its nose. Sometimes wine is finicky that way. I do enjoy the adventure in every glass. By the way, who doesn’t love the price point on this ride?

Winemaker Notes: “This blend of Zinfandel and Sangiovese combines the attributes of both varietals in a pleasant balanced wine, perfect for those days when you want some unpretentious fun.  A rich bouquet of ripe black berry fruits has just enough tannin to stand up to that awesome BBQ you might have planned.
